About

Meet Daniel, the maker behind Dark Ember Creations.

Forged in the fires of restaurant kitchens for twenty years, now grounded by the woodshop in Philadelphia.

Daniel Cohen is Dark Ember Creations — one person, creating with purpose. The medium is wood; natural, of the earth, versatile but grounded. Reading the grain and its layers is a crucial part of the journey. Everything he sets out to create has purpose, invites curiosity, and becomes a part of your home; not just another piece that sits on the shelf. Each piece is unique, and in its own right – a piece of art.

Based in Philadelphia. Built one commission, one market, one piece at a time.

What guides the work

Nothing here is rushed, and nothing pretends to be.

Intention

Every piece starts with a plan — what it's for, who it's for, what it needs to hold up to.

Depth

Layers, not shortcuts. Joinery you can see, because it's honest.

Character

The wood keeps its own history; knots, grain, the occasional flaw left in on purpose.
