Custom orders

How a commission comes together.

1

Tell me what you need

What it's for, who it's for, and what it needs to hold up to. Rough sketches or references welcome.

2

We settle on wood, size, and finish

I'll walk you through what's available and what makes sense for the piece.

3

Deposit, then the build

A deposit secures your spot in the queue. You'll get progress photos along the way, not just a finished surprise.

4

Pickup, local delivery, or shipping

Whatever's easiest.

Let's talk about your piece.

Frequently asked

FAQs

Answers to the most common questions before you reach out — commission timelines, materials, shipping, and more.

How long does a custom piece take?+

Most commissions run 3–6 weeks depending on complexity and what's in the queue. I'll give you a real timeline once we've talked through the piece.

What woods do you work with?+

Mostly walnut, white oak, cherry and live-edge maple, sourced from material that is typically on its way to the scrap pile or ethically sourced locally. If you have something specific in mind, ask.

Do you ship, or is it pickup/local only?+

Both. Philadelphia-area pickup, local delivery, or pieces can be packed and shipped — we'll sort out what makes sense for your piece. Fees vary.

Do custom orders require a deposit?+

Yes — a deposit secures your spot in the build queue and covers materials. The remaining balance is due at pickup or before shipping.

Can I see pieces in person?+

Yes, occasionally I'm at local markets. Sign up for my newsletter to be notified of upcoming market schedules or ask directly. First market appearance this season is August 29 at the Philadelphia Zoo.

Do you take returns or make changes after the build starts?+

Small adjustments are possible early on. Once a piece is underway, changes become harder — that's why the front-end conversation matters. If you're really unhappy with a piece, reach out so we can talk about what you need.
